My Creative Process

drafting my concept

I first create a number of raw concepts to play around with layouts.

Fort Marion National Monument, St. Augustine, Florida by Don Chester Powell, ca. 1938, Prints & Photographs Division, Library of Congress, LC-DIG-ppmsca-13396.

See America by Frank S. Nicholson, between 1936 and 1939, Prints & Photographs Division, Library of Congress, LC-USZC2-831.

Creating studies

I then create several mock-ups with varied designs before selecting the draft to work on.

Playing With Colors

Next, I put together a color palette to make the design come together cohesively.

Discover Puerto Rico U.S.A. Where the Americas meet by Frank S. Nicholson, Federal Art Project, between 1936 and 1940, Prints & Photographs Division, Library of Congress, LC-DIG-ds-08068.

Final Outcome

Lastly, I polish my design and get it print-ready.

Bermuda by Adolph Treidler, Bermuda Islands Department of Tourism and Trade Development, between 1940 and 1950, Prints & Photographs Division, Library of Congress, LC-DIG-ppmsca-43496.
